People probably complain that they don’t have anything exciting to do over the weekend, that after a few years they get to know everything around them and then it’s always the same old story. Well, right across the English Channel there’s a whole new country waiting to discover. You can even take your car with you, as taking a ferry to France is cheap and will not break your bank. Sure there is a lot of prejudice against the French, but you’ll see that it’s all more talk than actually truth. You’ll be delighted with the amazing food, the new sights and also at how many people are happy to speak English with you.
People tend to not value the Northern part of France, claiming that all that is worth seeing is either around Paris or in the South. This is an old prejudice, dating back to medieval ages where the North of France, because it was traditionally less stable politically, was generally less developed than the South, that enjoyed more stability and better trade partners. But this is something that’s not true anymore, as centuries of unification have brought any social and economical differences between the two parts of the country to a minimum.
